TubeNest (“TubeNest,” “we,” or “us”) helps parents and guardians curate safe YouTube playlists for children. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using TubeNest you agree to the practices described here.
If you have questions, contact us at info@tubenest.online.
Information we collect
Account data. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, profile picture URL, and a Google account identifier. We use this to create your TubeNest account and to associate playlists, child profiles, and household data with you.
Google and YouTube data. With your permission, we access a read-only view of your YouTube account using the youtube.readonly scope. Specifically, we read the playlists you own or are subscribed to and the videos within playlists you choose to import into TubeNest. We do not read your watch history, your likes, your comments, or your subscriptions beyond what is required to list and display your playlists.
Child profile data. You may create child profiles inside TubeNest. These profiles store a display name, an optional avatar, and playlist assignments. We do not require children’s real names or any other personally identifying information. Watch history is recorded against the child profile only; it is not linked to any external identity.
Usage data. We record which videos a child profile has watched, for how long, and on which day, so the application can show progress and (in paid tiers) enforce daily time limits.
Operational logs. Our servers record standard request metadata (IP address, user agent, timestamp) for security and reliability purposes. These logs are retained for a short period and are not used for advertising.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Authenticate you and keep you signed in to TubeNest.
- Read the playlists and videos you choose to import, display them inside TubeNest, and keep them in sync with YouTube.
- Show videos to the child profiles you create, in the distraction-free TubeNest player.
- Provide watch history, time-usage summaries, and (where applicable) daily time limits.
- Maintain the security and reliability of the service.
- Communicate with you about account, security, or service updates.
Google API Services User Data Policy
TubeNest’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically, we affirm that:
- We only request the YouTube scopes necessary to provide the features described in this policy.
- We do not transfer YouTube data to third parties except as necessary to provide the service, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets with notice to you.
- We do not use YouTube data for advertising purposes.
- We do not allow humans to read YouTube data, except with your explicit consent, when necessary for security purposes (such as investigating abuse), to comply with applicable law, or when the data has been aggregated and anonymized.
How long we keep your data
We keep account data, child profiles, imported playlists, and watch history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete this data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.
Operational logs are retained for up to 90 days for security and debugging purposes.
Your choices and controls
Revoking YouTube access. You can revoke TubeNest’s access to your Google and YouTube data at any time from your Google Account permissions page. Doing so stops further playlist syncing.
Deleting your account. You can request account deletion by emailing info@tubenest.online. We will delete your account, child profiles, imported playlists, and watch history within 30 days.
Accessing or correcting data. You may request a copy of your account data, or ask us to correct inaccurate data, by contacting us at the address above.
Children’s privacy
TubeNest is designed to be used by parents and guardians on behalf of children. The TubeNest account is registered to and operated by an adult. Child profiles inside TubeNest are local labels used to organize playlists and watch history; they do not require a separate account, an email address, or any personally identifying information.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us directly, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), encryption of stored OAuth tokens, and access controls on our servers and databases. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Third-party services
We use the following providers to operate TubeNest:
- Google / YouTube— authentication and playlist data.
- Vercel— application hosting.
- Neon— PostgreSQL database hosting.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security commitments.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you by email or via the application.
